Indian football clubs should understand that football is saleable and it will be to all shown in Asia Cup 2011 period. So any deal with a media is a positive trend. The clubs can tie up with a local media channel or at least with a FM Radio channel but I don't see why it is not happening. They have to connect with the local fans to survive in the long run. I am depressed with Viva Kerala's approach. They should be connecting with their fans with a good interactive and attractive website at least. Is it that difficult?? This open letter is meant for them.
When I look at many programmes aired by popular malayalam network Channels I feel pity about the quality- And I surely believe that Viva Kerala can provide a weekly half an hour quality stuff to be aired in the evening 7-10 PM slot getting good TRP ratings.
1) Identify a ground-a home ground you will play for next 4 years.
2) Identify a local TV channel ready for a following deal.
Deal
a) A free deal with exclusive media rights for four years with all the club news and interviews through this channel.
b) A half-an hour preview on day before the game in evening slot with coach and player interviews and expert comments.
C) A half-an hour review after the home match with video highlights in evening slot 7-10 PM .
d) Yearly 50% share of audited profits of above telecasts and sale of video/news rights.
e) U-18 selections conducted through a sevens tournament to be telecast. It can be made of a good TV Reality show -- if not successful scrap it but will definitely attract local fans to games.
