Who will score for U-19 AIFF XI?

This is in response to AIFF plans to field U-19 24 member squad in I-league as a replacement to Mahindra United with 4-year contract! You have just one Indian in top ten I-league Goal scorers list I can't understand who will score for U-19 AIFF XI????? With a four year contract will they be playing 2-division once relegated or will they be given 6 points for winning and 4 point for a draw???? Even after with repeated opinions against this plans who is listening?! My l;ogical question is "Who will score for U-19 AIFF XI?"

There is two ways out here
1) U-19 team is of an exceptional class way above the seniors and I-league players OR
2) I-league standard is too poor that even a U-19 team can survive

which is the one AIFF is assuming is important.

If first one is true AIFF should pay the clubs the money they ask for the transfers of these exceptionally talented U-19 players groomed by these clubs or else do something to improve I-league.

  • Is there no logic??!!
  • They play in afternoon heat on weekdays with empty stands?!!!
  • Prize money is too less!!
  • Man of the Match only Rs 5000/-  ridiculous!!!
  • Winning team should get at least one Lakh Rupees
  • Annual Income of AIFF is 20+ crores why can't spend!!???!!
  • A club on an average/year spend 3-4 crores of rupees to stay in I-league what does it win  PEANUTS!!!

Better to Improve I-league with that money than spend on this proposition. If it was U23 team and U19 team together it is digestible but now what about the U23 team and their coach Sukhwindher Singh? I  would say it would much better to improve the standards of I-league than investing in this proposition.I don't how practical it will be.If it works financially and with proper infrastructure it may turn out to be good but I have one big fear- This will lead to lobbying. 4-years contract, market rate-salary-almost sure place in national squad what MORE does one Indian footballer ask for? what will be then the DRIVE.The better players who don't find their names in this squad can never find their name in future-this will close the group and so  good will never get better and the better will never get to BEST levels.

To be frank!

Most ridiculous Idea ever thought off.

Instead have a Proper U-19 I-league (with second division also) in four zones (groups) with 3 U-15 players must and keep a prize money of 50 lakhs minimum in four groups and increase to Rs one crore over a period of 8 years.Similarly increase the prize money of I-league and play the matches in evening in weekends and spread to 20 teams. It will work wonders. Don't close a group of U-19 talent it is a ridiculous approach.Even though the easiest way out!!!!!!!! Otherwise the U-19 team gets 6 points for winning and 2 points for a draw and 1 point for loosing. This a good idea especially if Bob Houghton agreed because U19 I-league will not work out. This is AIFF afterall. We will do the easiest job not work hard for the best solution. As usual chalta hai! something is better than nothing!! This way U19 team will not be relegated in I-league! Great!

Jokes apart seriously speaking Instead SPEND THIS MONEY AND EFFORTS AND Infrastructure on I-league and its marketing.Have a proper I-league II-division league of 16 teams in place.Increase the remuneration of clubs to field U-15 and U-19 teams in I-league II division Have a long term vision like this.Have a open system to select the best players. This will drive the competitive levels up. Don't close the group if you need a long term success. For Asian Cup 2011 that is good Idea to close the group --- but for 2018,2022 it is not a good idea to close the group . I-League in its proper professional set-up will give the best Indian team . Just follow that basic rule of nature-"the fittest will survive" if you follow that for the AIFF I-league team also-that is they will be relegated then fine. Bottom 20% should have to be relegated-"the fittest will survive" that is the basis for any success ALL THE BEST

Suggestion:Gradually Increase the total prize money for I-league and I-league Second division from Rupees 5 Crores to Rupees 25 Crores over a period of 4 - 6 years with proper professional calendar for 16 (I-League) + 16 (Division 2 ) teams playing home and away basis. For every I-league game the Winning team  gets 5 Lakhs. If game with goals ends in a Draw - Team share the prize money. For  Goalless  draw  only half of the prize money  is shared. Man of Match = 1 Lakh Rupees. For Second Division matches the winning team gets 2.5 Lakh and the Man of the Match = 50K I-league winners=1 Crores (Only 50 Lakhs  if  not  fielding U19 team in Division 2)  Runners Up 75 Lakhs  (Only  37.5 Lakhs  if  not  fielding U19 team in Division 2) Third place = 50 Lakhs  (Only 25 Lakhs  if  not  fielding U19 team in Division 2) Fourth 25 Lakhs (Only 12.5 Lakhs  if  not  fielding U19 team in Division 2). I-League Division 2 winners-20 Lakhs  Runners up 10 Lakhs. Parachute payments to 2/3 ( 14 placed I-league team will play  third placed second division team in Promotion/relegation home and away basis play-offs) Relegated I-league teams 20 Lakhs each.Parachute payments are required for compensating the revenue lost due to relegation for broadcasting rights in I-league as I-league second division broadcasting revenues will be far less than I-league revenue generation. The I-league teams are motivated to field their B-team or U19 teams in I-league second division, but these teams will not be promoted to I-league but will be relegated to third division which will be the state league or district league in the current set-up. The team promoted to I-league will have to meet the standard criteria for AFC professional clubs with a proper home ground or else they will be playing in second division and the next available and eligible club will be promoted. All I-league clubs will strictly adhere to AFC guidelines and make themselves available and eligible for AFC champions league. In a similar fashion over a period of 6-8 years clubs can be motivated to field an U15 team in a professional youth league. And in 10 years time India will be realising the dream of playing World Cup 2022!

Those who have power to change things don't bother to;and those who bother don't have the power to do so .................but I think It is a very thin line that divides the two and I am walking on that.Well is pure human nature to think that "I am the best and my ideas unquestionable"...it is human EGO and sometimes it is very important for survival of the fittest and too much of it may attract trouble.Well here you decide where do I stand.I say what I feel.
